Summer Fluke or the art of Flounder

  • In 2014, a Brooklyn fish dealer named Alan Dresner pleaded guilty to wire fraud for his role in illegally selling flounder, also known as summer fluke.
  • Dresner sold over $500,000 worth of illegally caught summer flounder that had been harvested in excess of federal quotas.
  • His crime involved falsifying over 100 dealer reports to conceal the illegal catch.
